More fruits and vegetables, less wrinkles!

In a recent research in a Berlin hospital, it was established that
people who consume large quantities of fruits and vegetables, have
less wrinkles!
People who follow a more mainstream diet can also look younger if
they include tomatoes and paprika in their menu, as dermatologists
said to a German magazine.
Free radicals are the main factor behind aging of the skin and cancer.
That is why we need an intake of antioxidants with our food.
Our organism cannot produce enough antioxidants, so it needs to
make them, using food ingredients, such as vitamins A, C, D, E and B-
Carotene.
Vegetables such carrots, tomatoes, paprika and others contain many
antioxidants.
In a research performed at a Berlin hospital, it was established that
people with a high percentage of antioxidants in their organism looked
younger, because they had fewer wrinkles.
The research showed that vegetarians have more antioxidants in
their organisms than meat eaters.
Dermatologists warn that overabundance of antioxidants taken from
nutritional supplements may cause serious problems in the organism.
It is far preferable to obtain antioxidants from natural sources, such
as fruits and vegetables.

Free radicals seriously hurt our health

By Anita Mahler, Pathologist – Holistic Doctor

    What is oxidative stress?
What is in common among premature aging, blood vessel and heart
problems, cancer, brain strokes, cataract, male infertility?
The answer, according to distinguished researchers, lies with the
destructive attributes of free radicals. Free radicals are atomic or
molecular species with unpaired electrons on an otherwise open shell
configuration. They are unstable and therefore can be aggressive. In
their effort to re-claim the missing electron, they attack cells and if they
meet no proper resistance, they can alter the membrane, DNA and
other elements. The result can be catastrophic for our health.
Nowadays, various factors, such as environmental pollution,
smoking, radiation, electromagnetic and geopathic stress, greasy and
salted fast food, bodily and psychological stress contribute to the
creation of more free radicals.

New researches for the benefits of flax seed

Article by Philippos Sophronas, published in the Greek newspaper
“To Vima”

Flax is a plant known since the antiquity for its uses in cloth making
and for its seed, which was a basic food element for humans and
animals.
During the last decade flax seed has attracted the interest of many
distinguished scientists and researchers all around the globe because
of its healthy qualities, known for centuries.
Flax seed contains a fibre that gathers cholesterol molecules in the
organism and exits the organism with feces, without being absorbed.
Flax seed also appears to have a positive role in shielding the
organism from heart attacks and brain strokes.
On top of that, flax seed also contains a very powerful antioxidant of
the Omega-3 fatty acids family, that, as shown in recent researches,
contribute to the prevention of hormone-responsive cancers, such as
prostate or breast cancer.
Researchers at the University of Toronto discovered that in patients
with breast cancer, who consumed muffins containing flax seed, the
development of the cancer was slowed down.
Other researches show that flax seed can help stabilize blood
glucose, preventing ailments such as diabetes.
In a nursing home in Nova Scotia, it was discovered that, by adding
flax seed in the elderly people’s diet, their constipation rates were
significantly reduced and they no longer needed enemas,
suppositories etc.
In Canada, the demand for flax seed flour has significantly risen
during these last years, due to the findings of relative researches.
Flax seed may not be a miraculous medicine, but adding it to our
everyday menu will certainly be beneficial to our health. Flax seed is
hard and cannot be easily absorbed by the organism. That is why
consuming flax seed flour in bread, muffins or raw mixed with cereals
in breakfast can be an extra contribution to a better health.
